Mutemwa Lodge

“The Place of the Big trees”

Mutemwa Lodge is where Royal Barotse Safaris was born, and for the Johnson family it has been home for more than 30 years.

Mutemwa means “the place of the big trees” in the Lozi language, and is a fitting name for our tranquil retreat set on the banks of the Upper Zambezi River, shaded by the towering canopy of Pod Mahogany, Rosewood, and Jackalberry trees. Whether you come for world-class tiger fishing, exceptional birdlife, or simply the peace of our remote riverside lodge, Mutemwa is a place that lingers in the heart long after you leave.
