Our Guides
Raised on the river, trained at Mutemwa — our fishing guides combine generations of experience fishing these waters.
Boat Guide
Kenny
Kenny has been with us since the very beginning nearly 30 years ago and remains a cornerstone of the Mutemwa and Royal Barotse Safaris family. A quiet leader among the guides and staff, he knows every bend, channel, and sandbank along this stretch of the Zambezi.
An avid birder with deep wisdom of the river and its wildlife, time on the water with Kenny is both enriching and rewarding. Though naturally timid and cautious, when a massive tiger is on the line, there is no one better to have by your side.
Boat Guide
Humphrey
A confident guide, Humphrey knows the river inside and out, from hidden rocks and shifting sandbars to the subtle holding spots where the giants lie. His understanding of changing conditions, lure selection, and precise boat positioning helps turn each cast into a real opportunity.
Fishing with Humphrey isn’t just about the catch — it’s about sharing in his excitement, passion, and deep connection to these waters.
Boat Guide
Joe
With more than 25 years guiding on these waters, Joe has become part of the fabric and DNA of the Royal Barotse Safaris team. Calm, collected, and great fun to be around, he has a steady presence that immediately puts guests at ease.
Time on the water with Joe is relaxed, enjoyable, and often filled with laughter. It’s no surprise that guests who fish with him once rarely want anyone else when they return to Mutemwa or join another one of our safaris.
Boat Guide
Rebbick
Over recent fishing seasons he has built solid experience and enjoyed great success with his guests. Attentive and thoughtful, Rebbick is dedicated to making every outing smooth and enjoyable, and his growing reputation on the river speaks for itself.
