At Royal Barotse Safaris, we’ve carefully selected high-quality tackle, equipment and boats, tailored to the unique demands of Tiger fishing on the Upper Zambezi and Kwando Rivers.
Our Boats
Custom designed | Tiger Fishing adapted | Experience-minded
We fish the Zambezi & Kwando Rivers with four 6.0m x 1.8m custom aluminium Swamp Cruisers — built for fishing these unique river systems.
Each boat offers:
- Two stable casting platforms (front and back)
- Central bench for cruising
- Two comfortable trolling seats for long sessions on the water.
- Back trolling seat (if needed)
- Water sealed hatch
Powered by reliable 70HP Yamaha four-stroke engines, our boats deliver a smooth, powerful and quiet performance perfectly suited to our environment. Ideal for 2 guests per boat, but easily accommodates 3 if needed.
Our Gear & Tackle
Guests are encouraged to bring their own gear and tackle but we have a well rounded setup for those wanting to travel light.
Trolling Setup:
- Reel: Shimano Socorro SW5000
- Rod: Medium heavy 5’6″ 8–12kg 1-piece
Spinning Setup:
- Reel: Shimano Sedona C5000XG
- Rod: Shimano Nexave Tiger 7’0″ 15–30 lb 2-piece
Lures:
- A range of Rapalas and Afrijigs are available for purchase at any of our camps or lodges.
Please Note: Any lost, damaged, or broken tackle will be charged to the guests account.
