At Mutemwa Lodge it’s our belief that every Upper Zambezi experience should encompass everything that makes the Zambezi river magical. This includes quality tiger fishing on a remote and private piece of the Zambezi, wonderful bird life, stunning sunsets, a roaring fire at night all complimented by superb owner hospitality and great food.

Accommodation at Mutemwa is in permanent tents on raised teak deckswith the expanse of the Upper Zambezi below the decks. The sound of hippo, monkeys, birds and feeding fish surround you as you awake to the sun rising over the Zambezi River. In addition to tents, Mutemwa Lodge comprises of 6 boatsa sunset cruise bargecanoes, a beautiful breakfast deck over the Zambezi, main lounge and bar area with a libraryelectrical charge pointsfiltered water stations, DSTV television and guest bathrooms and a swimming pool.

Tent Facilities

Each tent is equipped with twin bedsparaffin lanterns, an en-suite bathroom comprising of a heated shower, wash basin, clothes cupboard and flush toilet. All linen and towelling is provided. 

Cellphone / Wifi: There no wifi and cell-phone signal is very poor

Payments: There are no card facilities at the camps and all extras and tips need to be settled in cash (Zambian Kwatcha or USD)


Start your morning off with some Zambian coffee or tea in your tent or around the fire. After your morning activity, guests can return to the lodge for brunch which is usually served on the breakfast deck overlooking the river.

Beach breakfasts are also offered depending on the season.

High tea is served on the deck in the afternoon, before your afternoon activity .. after which guests will return to the lodge for a drink in the bar, followed by dinner around the fire.

There are three ways of accessing Mutemwa Lodge:

Fly in via charter plane from Livingstone, Zambia OR Lanseria, South Africa to Mutemwa Airstrip

Rates will include:  Sharing accommodation, all meals, teas and coffee, laundry, unlimited guided fishing with unlimited fuel, selection of fishing tackle, day trips to Sioma Falls, boat cruises, birding, canoeing and village visits.

Rates will exclude:  Flights and road transfers, drinks, broken or lost fishing tackle.
